I genuinely wish that this was directed by someone else other than Wes Anderson.
Unnecessarily pretentious.
I can’t help but feel like it’s sloppy man, especially when it comes to the writing there’s just no depth and emotion, like it’s contrived, maybe that’s not the right word? but there’s no balance and connection between the technical and expressive visuals with the emotions of the characters and the film itself and the themes of the film are never really being fully explored.
Overall, I found it to be a flat and empty film, prioritising a visual style that ultimately adds nothing to the film other than looking pretty.
I found it to be emotionally and thematically directionless, despite a cast who tried their best to bring humanity and depth to these otherwise hollow characters.
I laughed here and there, and sure there were a few scenes that looked like it could work out for Wes but it just ultimately fails and I fear forgettable.
The score is amazing though Alexandre Desplat you will always be famous.
