"Cinema can fill in the empty spaces of your life and your loneliness." - Pedro Almodovar
When you google "film appreciation" the first thing you might see is "film appreciation is to recognise the full personal worth of a film using a heightened perception or understanding of it, by spending time or money in its pursuit."
We'll be featuring numerous articles tackling different topics ranging from film movements to just breaking down a film and its impact. For Behold Cinema the purpose of "film appreciation" is to connect people with cinema, to help them discover great films which they would never otherwise come across in their daily lives. We'll explore cinema through the lenses of education, entertainment, history and personal experience.
"The cinema is not an art which films life: the cinema is something between art and life. Unlike painting and literature, the cinema both gives to life and takes from it, and I try to render this concept in my films. Literature and painting both exist as art from the very start; the cinema doesn't." - Jean-Luc Godard
